Hello and happy holidays! I am a new member who has joined in search of some answers regarding my father’s WW2 service. While we have recently learned a great deal, we have found ourselves with additional questions. I look forward to learning more about others’ service on this forum, and potentially learning more about my own dad’s service in the 44th armored infantry regiment of the 6th armored division!
G’day, and welcome to the forum. I believe you may learn that which you seek from the many knowledgeable members on the forum. Mark
You are lucky to be related to a man who served in the last of the "Romantiscist wars". My grandpapa served in 29th 1st Italian apart of the Axis powers. I highly admire WWII soldiers from both sides of the war.
Welcome to the Forums. One probably minor correction: The 44th Armored Infantry was a Battalion, not a Regiment. In Jan 1942, the 50th Infantry Regiment was reconstituted and assigned to the 6th AD. In Sept 1943, the 50th Infantry was reorganized, with the 1st Battalion becoming the 44th Armored Infantry Battalion.
