    Can't really say I had a favorite SS Panzer Division...but I still prefer the Großdeutschland Division..but that's just me.

    Seeing as how "favourite" has such a warm aura associated with it (as opposed to something more "academic" such as "which Waffen-SS Paper Division is your primary interest") I think it is prudent to choose one which is not synonymous with war crimes. On that list, that leaves the 9th and 10th SS Paper Divisions.

    My primary "interest" would be 1st SS Panzer Division but I won't pay tribute to the many war crimes committed to this division by calling it my "favourite"

    There was also a SS mountain division, 6th SS Mountain Division, NORD. It fought mostly in Finland but when that country quit they retreated through Norway, back to Germany in time to fight in Himmler's NORTHWIND attack. They had a pretty clean record and were very hard fighters.

    Yes, but we're talking about the Panzer Divisions here, not a Mountain Division

    Maybe favorite isn't the right word...maybe more like historical interest vs other divisions..as we know war crime atrocities were well documented, especially perpetrated by SS units.

    Don't really have a favorite, per se.
    I do tend to pay more attention to the 2nd SS Panzer, since they had their butts handed to them twice by the same US infantry division that is near and dear to my heart.

    Not one unit but I do think the heaviest blow to enemy in war was given in Kharkow spring 1943 By LAH, Reich and Totenkopf together under Manstein and Häusser.

    Autocorrect error. "Paper" should be "Panzer". But, in all fairness by 1945 the 9th and 10th SS-Panzer Divisions were panzer divisions only on paper..... :cool:
