More I read about his death afterwards, the more I'm surprised there wasn't a major coup within. Like to dig into the Soviet archives and find out exactly what when down, with some translation help of course. But I am sure we will really never know about the cause of his death, which many had no sorrow over, as he caused millions to die by a simple whim of a pen stroke. When Stalin died Nobody dared to go into his room in two days because they feared his wrath. . Also when Barbarossa begun Stalin went to his Dacha for two weeks. When Molotov, Berija and Zhukov arrived, Stalin believed they were there to arrest him. Instead Molotov asked Stalin to return and lead the country.
Think I'll watch that movie "The Death of Stalin" with a bottle of chilled Stolichnaya and some caviar..looks to be seriously funny.
Just got done watching the movie "The Death of Stalin"..yes there was some historical inaccuracies but enjoyed the movie...some have called it dark humor in it's finest...as the scene where they are cutting out Stalin's brain in some barn...while his drunken son stumbles in shooting a pistol. Will watch it again for sure...Jason Isaacs as Marshal Georgy Zhukov, with enough medals on his chest to slow down a tank I felt stole the show...two thumbs up...watch it..you won't be disappointed.
That movie is my favourite comedy of all time. Wish they would make ,‘the Death of Lenin’, an equally great premise for a film. I look into this period again, I have an odd interest in power vacuums such as this.
