While in Germany back in the 70's I was once approached by a German civilian at a flea market in Frankfurt who offered to sell me a genuine KC for about $200 US..I asked for some paperwork..he said it was lost after the war..yeah sure...I passed on that great deal.
I thought only some persons during WW2 were persons allowed to Make KC and KC+. Not always Adolf would give these. As far as I know the pure KC is around 7,000 out I would not buy one without any proof.
Hi, That's not the original KC. It's the Jeweller's Copy for field use. I'm surprised that members have not heard of such an item. To be fair the image has been blown up in the images. I didn't post the original as that is not my point of concern. You are fortunate in the US as GI's had unrestricted opportunities in taking their trophies home. Where as the British Tommies had their kit bags searched at the port of arrival.
..they can go for higher or lower..depends on the condition and who is buying ...but I think 7000$ is right around the mark/average/etc
I wasn't an expert on them at the time..sure it looked nice but I felt it was simply a copy..so I passed is all.
....I never knew about KCs......when my uncle died, my dad had his 2 boxes of WW2 stuff...I think my brother took one and sold it.....it had a very nice book-album of hitler visiting Italy [ or Mussolini- Germany- I forget? ] .. ....well. I thought the KCs were Iron Crosses ....I freaked out when I found out they were KCs...they look the same to non-experts ..the round ring vs the loop tells you which is which Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross
On an other tangent did Friedrich Orth (F.O.) – Vienna produce an Infantry Assault badge with a horizontal pin ??
