"My aunt, Joyce Warham, who has died aged 94, taught social studies and sociology for 35 years at Cardiff, Leicester and Keele universities. She also wrote several books on social policy and on the administration of social services. During the second world war, Joyce worked in the personnel department of the Metropolitan Vickers Lancaster bomber factory in Manchester, and, immediately after, in the displaced persons camps in Germany with the United Nations. This experience had a profound effect on her. She often talked about the remarkable fortitude of the people in the camps." http://www.theguardian.com/education/2014/jul/01/joyce-warham-obituary
Hi, this is interesting as my parents both worked at Metropolitan Vickers in the war years. Did your aunt ever discuss with you what it was like to work there?
Hi, and welcome to the forums! Not actually my own aunt, unfortunately, but the author of that article. Not finding anything specific on Metrovick, but if you have a delve here it might turn something up- BBC - WW2 People's War - Some wartime recollections of a Worsley Road schoolboy
