,,yes, this is not the 1970s stuff with 15K memory '''computers''' ....I barely remember the first moon landing
..I heard them say it can dock by itself/etc ....

ISS resupply ships do that routinely.

I was in boot camp when Apollo 11 landed on the Moon.

Certainly hope so, the ESA has been doing automated docking with the ISS for over a decade, and the Russians for over 3 decades. The Russians system "Kurs" has been around since the late-80s, and has been improved over time.

Unfortunately, this is far from exciting stuff. This is where we were back in the 80's with the space shuttle. Which, while exciting(even from about 10 miles away a launch was an unforgettable experience), it never lived up to the hype. It quickly fell far behind launch schedules & costs increased a good bit.

Personally, I would be far more excited about another Moon Shot and then on to Mars. But another "Space Truck", been there, done that...The ESA & Russians have both been doing it.

The space shuttle was largely a military vehicle...the program was going to be cancelled until the military stepped in and ordered a redesign to accommodate it's large satellites, America has some serious sats in space as a result (most we don't know about.)
The moon shot is coming soon, maybe as soon as 2024...can't wait to see our little buddy in high resolution...who knows, we may see a few more little (green) buddies too, it'll be far more difficult to keep them out of shot this time round. (Don't yell at me over that comment, yell at Buzz Aldrin). China has taken over Russia's competition with the US, they will be there soon too..."Yellow peril high in the sky" - theres a song in that.

It seemed after the last moon landing in '72..the U.S. lost interest..well we have done that enough..let's stop spending billions on the space program and instead direct toward the space shuttle program...yeah that's it..the space shuttle...pretty much waste of time and money in my opinion. If they had concentrated instead on flights to Mars..they would of been there by the mid 80's and even established some type of colonies for further exploration and perhaps further out into space.

hmmm...There have been two manned missions to mars...

A joint mission between the US and Russia...73 I think and 2011...using almost identical technology to the moon landings, they show (perhaps not in this video) a landing on mars using the same lander as on the moon. Even a snake like creature scurrying away from the lander as it lands. You can believe it...or not.
An interesting shot of the moon and Earth...in the same frame...so whomever took this footage wasn't going to the moon or Earth.

There is still plenty to explore on the moon...just because one has been to the bottom of the ocean a few times does NOT mean it has been explored. Plus if you want to build a base, a suitable location must be found for this and an "inspection" done before anything is put in stone. A Moon base is a must IMO.

Maybe we already have people on Mars:

'I saw men walking on Mars in 1979': 'Former Nasa employee' claims there was a secret manned mission to the red planet | Daily Mail Online

How do we get there these days? TR-3B Aurora - Black Manta

I saw a triangular UFO near Belleville, Ill. Turned out to be the landing lights for a passenger jet. UFO nuts lie a lot.

was it 6 moon landings? and all made it back alive--in the 70s--that is a fantastic record and accomplishment ...plus Apollo 13 none killed

IF a man had gone to Mars, it would be a public relations bonanza....

I don't believe it at all.

I have seen the "tunneller" footage from somewhere else before....purporting to be film of the martian surface.

Its got to be a fake. The man who steps on Mars first will be more of a household name than Neil Armstrong. Why would any government keep it a secret?

recalling last live viewing, my first launch was cool. the very grainy black and white images, crackling radio comms.
being so young, it caused me to wonder about things i never thought were possible.
seeing the current nasa live footage with the clear images, cool cockpit/outfits/lighting etc was entertaining even without launch.
i imagine draining fuel tanks would have been the most dangerous part of scrub

    watched most of the launch.
i am not a fan of spcx.
    the live feed was...creepy.
that the crew with the large numbers on their backs were dressed all in black with facemasks... bothered me.
they put "bob and doug" (disrespectful) into some crappy tessla and uber them to craft.
    giant commercial for e.
glad to see the president was present.
had to balance it all out.
