Could they made enough A-bombs without the Uranium they captured from that German Sub U-234(wich they obviuosly would not capture without Enigma  )
The US had (and has) more than enough natural sources of uranium. I don't think any was needed from captured U-boats.
Maybe (most of the Uranium used came from Canada BTW) but Enriched Uranium is must harder to come by in those days! http://missilegate.com/rfz/swaz/chapter3.htm
Very hard to believe. I have never seen any (credible) reports of the Nazi's having enriched uranium, most reports actually state that they had taken a wrong turn in developing an industrial enrichment process. I had always thought the item in short supply was plutonium (Fat Man was a plutonium bomb; little boy was a uranium bomb). The boffins were so sure of the uramium bomb that it wasn't even tested. Unless you count Hiroshima as a test. I think a lot, if not most, of the uranium used in the frist bombs came from the then Belgian Congo in Africa. I only wanted to point out that the US (and indeed Canada) have their own natural sorces. I hadn't really heard about this incident (U-234) before. Do you have more details?
The surrender of the U-234 is well known so that wouldn't be much of a problem... http://uboat.net/boats/u234.htm http://www.dataphone.se/~ms/ubootw/boats_type-10b.htm http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/lostsub/map_u0234.html http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... light=u234 http://www.ww2f.com/atlantic-naval-conf ... 234-a.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unterseeboot_234 http://www.orau.org/ptp/articlesstories/u234.htm http://www.ww2pacific.com/u-234.html http://www.uboataces.com/articles-fareast-boats5.shtml http://www.mikekemble.com/ww2/u234.html Plutonium could be made relativly easily (compared to U-235) by Nuclear reactors (made by the breeder reactor in Hanford) http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hb ... /bomb.html
