'Morning all- I've been working on-again/off-again on a invloving the German 89th Infantry Division. So, does anyone here do or know of a reenactment unit that specifically portrays the 89th Division? If so, could you pass on any contact info? How about anyone with an interest in the 89th? Any unit histories out there on the German 89th Division? I'd prefer in English, but beggars can't be choosers. Does anyone know of any personal accounts/diaries/memoirs written by 89th Division vets? Has anyone interviewed any veterans of the 89th Division and care to share their stories? And finally, does anyone know of any surviving veterans of the 89th who'd be willing to answer some questions? Thanks for all of your time, and I hope to hear from you all soon. Wm.T. Ripley
Sir contact Ron Van Rijyt in Holland. his email is WESTWALL@HOME.NL He orchestrates the reunion of the Huertgen Vets every september, which a majority is members of the 89th ID. I know them as well and attend every chance I get. I can help as well. Respectfully CPT Kurt Rhymer
Mr Ripley I e-mail Ron Van Rijyt yesterday and he said that he would be glad to help you on the 89th ID. Mr Gevert Haslob was an S2 Officer in the 89th and had written a unit history about the unit and the war. He was with the unti until the end, and had some cool photos of d-day. He also was the intel advisor to FM Model. He speaks perfect english. Anyway, I know that the 155 INF REGT was assigned as infantry support under Michael Wittman, at the invasion. Ron will lead you in the right direction Thanks Kurt Rhymer
