Trump leaves 2,500 troops in Iraq by 15th January. What is Biden's view? Will he return the troops in bigger numbers back? Just curious?
Russia has just recently decided on building a new naval base in Sudan capable of handling nuclear warheads.

We are entering a new period of warfare. Russia and Turkey will be taking control as the US troops are leaving. Putin will be a happy man now. Has Israel commented yet?

I was referring to the draw down, the current administration has been hinting about it for years and it gained force after the election. As for Russia they forget their own history with Afghanistan. No reason to think the 'tribes' will like Russkies more than westerners and the Russian military is less capable.

The Russians have the Syrians and the Turkeys on their side. If Irael loses the US there is no military help or is there. Russia is on the north, the Southern Arabia has to decide on whose side it is there. Why the US ever got to Iraq to retreat and lose the war. Why did Trump say He gives Israel independence and say PLO No more exists.what a crab trap!

Russia fought pratically alone in Afganishhtan. Then again when they got the anti-chopper rockets ( by US?) Then then choppers were gone.

Hmmm...no consultation with Australia...without the correct amount of protection and assistance we will leave also...a vacuum which WILL be filled...so what did we achieve? Will Australia be so willing to help again if we are left by our closest ally?

Its tempting to see Syria, Turkey and Russia as a new Axis of Evil but we have 3 very different agendas here that briefly came together in getting the US/WEST out of the region. Syria after being involved in a decade long civil war wants to regain control and rebuild. Problem is its not a rich country and this doesn't fit with the long term goals of the other two. Then there is Turkey, for them its the Kurds, those in Turkey, Syria and Iraq. Turkey sees this a chance to finally deal with the 'Kurdish' problem, but there are two hiccups. One they don't want to damage the relationship with the EU too much and getting into a foreign entanglement is a lot easier than it is to get out of.

Then there is Russia, Putin has made no bones about restoring the glory days of the SU, but those days are long gone. A low grade war in the Ukraine, no Baltics, limited influence in Belarus and no Warsaw Pact to draw from, a lowered demand for the one thing they do have (energy) and coopetition from China's belt and road initiative. Syria won't get all thr aid in wants and needs and Turkey won't risk its ties to the west/EU too far.

What are your mentioning countries about to do ISIS return? If the Us wanted the Israel surevive he is doing his damnest to destroy the country. Not to mention the US embassy people. Little losses for the next president. His fault. Has Trump started releasing top security data to Biden before Jan 15. Such a f loser.

I'm guessing this is a reference to Stinger shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles provided by the US to the mujahadeen (sp?)

    Stinker?

Do you mean the US Redeye, US Stinger, the Egyptian SA-7 knockoff, the Chinese SA-7 knockoff, or the Soviet SA-7...you see, contrary to popular opinion, there were many MANPADS sold to the Afghans by various sources.

And no, Soviet helicopters did not disappear with the introduction of MANPADS, any more than US helicopters disappeared from Vietnam with the introduction of MANPADS. Losses went up, so new tactics were created and old ones changed, but in neither area did they "disappear."

So what is this talk about new Russian Naval base in Sudan? Just candies and pop corn? As far as I am concerned if the US is covering Israel the less troops the less cover. And the new peace paper with the Armenian? Russian based? No Armenian area??
I do not care. Once Putin is done with the country they are in civil war. The Army will come to Moscow and Red Square and try to take the power. Remember 1991. Who was old enough. If The Army wins you have no democracy. Bronk boy.
