True. I was wrong and I ask apologize for saying it was U-boat.

All the best Xmas time to you although I know my sayings do not matter much.

Sorry, but I did not take your response
As being very polite. However, I let it pass, water under the bridge...I actually like you, as your are one of the few that discuss the winter war & continuation war intelligently.

What I am looking for is clarification of the matter concerning what you have said about the Russians towing a U-boat to Kronstad...Are you talking about towing U-250 to Kronstadt, or are you talking about towing the Kursk to Murmansk? I am confused on this, because at times, it looks like you are talking about U-250, and at other times like you are talking about Kursk.

I am trying to have an intelligent discussion with you on this matter...But, I cannot do that if I don't understand what you are talking about.

Edit - I see that you have clarified your statement for me. Thank you.

My sorry. However how do you know so much about Russian Navy etc movements? My head tilts but I know you will say it is normal for abnormali.

Anyway, why would Russia want a Navy Base in Sudan? If NATO is not interested then WHO would be?

The Kursk...Well, that is just a big can of worms.

Kursk was recovered to find out what actually sank the submarine. Basically, proof that the Americans were somehow responsible for her loss.

Navies & naval history have always been my "thing"...and I try to stay current on what is going on where. Still catch myself typing Soviet instead of Russian.

But, yeah, most people would say I am abnormal.
The Russians/Putin are missing the heady days of the Soviet Union. The Russians/Putin have also been making plans for enlarging & modernizing their navy (but cash has been a problem for many years). With this planned naval expansion, the Russians need reliable allies where the Russians can build a naval/military base - yet still be able to operate from it in times of war. China & Vietnam have drifted away as old communist stalwarts & in times of war, those naval bases could be easily closed. Much the same for India. North Korea is likely the only Asian option.

The Middle East has roughly...Fallen apart. The old Soviet allies - Egypt & Libya are gone - replaced by questionable governments. Iran seems to be marching to it's own tune, although, Trump churned up those waters a lot, they are still "iffy" in terms of reliability. Syria is about the only remaining staunchly Russian ally in the area. Which narrows the prospects of a new Russian naval base.

How many alerts do you produce almost the same answer? I am not dead yet. Not as dead as you want. You make an alert even for apologize. Now that is funnny.

    And
    Calm down Kai...

I said the Russians wanted to prove that the US was responsible for the subs loss. Not that I believed the US was responsible for her loss. It was that kludge Shikval(sp?) torpedo fuel that doomed her.

What they found was that the US was not responsible for the Kursk loss.

Don't you remember all those stories the Russians put out about Kursk being rammed that led to the explosion?

Then the Kursk was raised & inspected...and all those stories stopped. Except for the occasional "hard core" Soviet/Russian on that still gets out.

    How come you
How come you make ca 3 alerts of everything I say.. Even if I say I am sorry? I still have about 10 alerts by you. Almost all if not all by you about the same items. You have a problem. problem. problem. Was that a record player. I will make an alert also of everything.

It is how the alerts are set up...Every time you quote me...I get an alert.

I'm guessing your setup the same way.

It's convenient except when we are back & for thing like this.

No, I would not bother getting results because I only source books. This is the time I go through alerts because usually people contact me personally. Not you. Why on earth you have alert on automatic. I did not know for 21 years it even existed. And if you send three alerts to me and I have not alerted you once then explain who does?? Who dfoes?

    I quote when I respond to people...Sorry, it's a habit.

    To stop it...
    Click on "Alerts"
Click on "Alert Preferences"(down towards the bottom of the Alerts box.
Look through the list for getting alerts when quoted...Uncheck the box.

No more alerts when you are quoted.

It's getting late & I need a shower. So I will probably end the day here.

What is your take on the raising of the Kursk?
