They're spider bots, from Google and other search engines. They're indexing the internet. Nice to have them, it means we're easier to be found when people are searching.

OK. I thought they were trying to get inside the Forums and make advertisements. That is why we have a questionnaire for new members and true net robots cannot answer them. Thanx for the info, now I know it better.

Wondering when the post numbers were reintroduced?
I like it. Only noticed it today.

They were there at least from 2002 when I joined but I believe they were there from the beginning. At one time we had military decorations as well when passing a certain posting number.

maybe my brave browser only started to notice it...just a small dingleberry.
recalling lamenting about lack of post #'s some time ago.
I've been here in some form since 2002. I had a great home page with background silver star and a gallery of Alberts stuff, before the great purge.

To remind us of the "smaller days"....

"I guess we have well over 60,000 postings here? Or do we?

    Kai-Petri, Oct 21, 2003"

    or more "funnier"

Going by Otto's original list I decided to do sort of an update. Here are the members with 500+ posts, (I think I got them all). I call them the Dirty Baker's Dozen. [IMG]

Yeah, remember those. I joined October 2003 and there were post numbers then.

When there's a software update Otto gets a lot of switches to flip, unflip, stay flipped.

My recollection (which is admittedly a bit sketchy) was that the awarding of medals here was considered, at least by some, to be trivializing their importance and meaning for the veterans & the fallen to whom the medals were awarded. I could be wrong and it may just have been a software thing.

Carl shit in his mess kit and Skipper has been on hiatus for a while, so Kai is moving up on the outside with Gordon making a strong showing. Pay no attention to Slip; half of his posts are in the backroom.

I'm having issues trying to copy and paste pictures here. Error message of, " The upload file was not an image as expected " ?? Text copy works fine of course.

Am I not sguinting right or crossing the proper body parts the right way ?

You can upload files to Imgur.com easily. They have options for formatting a picture with just a click. I use the poo-poo out of Imgur.

Not sure but I have noticed that more and more net photos are protected from copy-paste method. Even if it seems I copied the photo I cannot release it to ww2 page.

You can download any image on your home computer screen, by screen capture if nothing else. The images go into the buffer for the browser you're using. (Should be a sub of the directory the browser software is in.)

No problem. I do 99% of web stuff on the tablet so if it's really important I'll climb upstairs to the computer.

    Testing C&P.

    Seems OK here, mate.

Might be Kai's thought about wherever you're C&P-ing from. Lots of sites do indeed use non-standard image formats. (Or at least ones WW2F doesn't support.)
Might also be some glitch at your end. Maybe worth trying a quick cache clear for here?
