One of three (originally planned to be six) fitted with a catapult and crane for a floatplane. Not sure if it was literally unsuccessful or just not very useful, but they soon reverted to standard Fletcher configuration.

It looks a little washed out...I don’t know what the colours should be, but I’m sure the water looks a little pale...
"The New Jersey (BB-62) passing through Pearl Harbor channel escorted by large harbor tugs, 9 September 1968. [1388x1086]" Ah, a great picture to dispel an old myth. When Nevada made her dash for the sea during the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor the IJN hoped to sink her in the channel and "block up the harbor entrance." Big J is 108" wide, Nevada was Beam:95 ft 2.5[7] – 3 in[6] (29 m) . Her Length:583 ft (178 m)[6]. AND the channel was ~1000 ft wide. So there was going to be a gap of over 200 ft on either side of 200 minimum for sorties.
