Hi - I was wondering if anyone was able to please help identify the origins of this uniform and badge. The man in the uniform is confirmed as Polish (born approx 1925) and is believed to be an infantryman who served in the 3rd Carpathian Rife Division from 1942 until the end of the war however I am unable to find any records of his time during the war.
Based on research he spent time in post war Germany living between Hanover and Leipzig until 1948ish when he left to Menningen until 1949 at which time he left Europe.
My theory is that this is actually a post war uniform (possibly soviet Germany police/fire?). The uniform appears to be black and the badge has a star which makes me think Soviet.
Anyway, any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated as I am baffled.
    Thanks in advance.
