Hitler and Napoleon´s tomb.... Hitler gift to France, German soldiers returning remains of Napoleon II, son of Napoleon Bonaparte from Vienna to Paris, 1940
Not sure but found this: Emotion and Triumph: Champs-Élysées, Armistice Day, 11 November 1944. This press photo includes, from left, British Ambassador to France Alfred Duff Cooper, Churchill’s naval aide Cdr. C.R. Thompson, Foreign Minister Anthony Eden, Churchill and de Gaulle. Over de Gaulle’s right shoulder is his son Philippe. “Generally,” wrote Churchill, “I felt in the presence of an organized government, broadly based and of rapidly-growing strength, and I am certain that he [de Gaulle] should be most unwise to do anything to weaken it in the eyes of France at this difficult, critical time….” (Hillsdale College Press)
If not in the list I doubt he can be found. The name list was the only one from the November 1944 march in the sources. Then again you or someone else interested can try harder than me. It took one hour to find these names but I could miss some search options with Google.
Well spotted although the taller dude looks smaller from the camera position. Anyway, good work. or do you agree Opana?? Cheers!
Stalin and magic tricks....the invisible man? Nikolai Yezhov, pictured right of Stalin, was later removed from this photograph at the Moscow Canal. (Credit: Fine Art Images/Heritage Images/Getty Images & AFP/GettyImages) Stalin used a large group of photo retouchers to cut his enemies out of supposedly documentary photographs. One such erasure was Nikola Yezhov, a secret police official who oversaw Stalin’s purges. For a while Yezhov worked at Stalin’s right hand, interrogating, falsely accusing and ordering the execution of thousands of Communist Party officials. But in 1938, Yezhov fell from Stalin’s favor after being usurped by one of his own deputies. He was denounced, secretly arrested, tried in a secret court, and executed. Stalin’s censors then removed Yezhov from the photographic record, including cutting him from a photograph in which he smiled next to his former boss, Stalin, next to a waterway. The photo retouchers removed Yezhov from the photo and inserted new water to cover up the space where Yezhov would have been. How Photos Became a Weapon in Stalin’s Great Purge
I think he has a bum left arm, looks like a mp40(?) slung. The guy directly behind him also looks like his weapon is slung on his right shoulder. The guy on the far left appears to be missing a hand too.
Gent lending a assist at bottom right must want to know Moscow and local time, note two wrist watches . . . unless he has a rack of them under his coat or a bunch stuffed in his cap . . . "Buy a watch, comrade? Great choices! Cheap! For you I give special price!"
Napoleon II was half Austrian, son of the Emperor's second wife, Marie-Louise. Josephine had not been able to conceive a child with Napoleon, although she had a son from her previous marriage, Eugene de Beauharnais (sp?). Napoleon had at least two illegitimate children while married, and he hoped a new wife would give him an heir, and that marrying an Austrian princess would cement an alliance. Although France and Austria had been at odds recently, they had been friends and allies in the past; Marie Antoinette was Austrian, as was Anne, queen to Louis XIII.
