I last posted here on July 15th, 2019. So, after a two year, six month absence "I have returned" (as that imperious dog turd MacArthur pronounced on October 20, 1944).

I have occasionally spoken with Bobby (A-58) and he said I should come back, well I have. Hey Bobby!

I was a frequent poster back in the day, learned a lot and shared what I could, but there towards the end, it appeared to me, that the forum had become mean spirited. It could have been due to a normal reaction to a succession of particularly obnoxious trolls that came and went during that time frame. It just seemed to me that there was a lot of beating up on the new guys.

Anyways, I hope to have some good, informative discussions.

    BP

Welcome back, Bob. There are a few good discussions going on, so your input would be good. Most of the meanness is gone. Books, pictures, model making, etc. are a few of the areas you should look at.
    See you around

Good to have you back. Of course there's some crapp, but overall mostly good. Don't let the ***holes spoil your experience, or deprive us of your contributions.

Nice to know you're still alive.

I went to the USMC museum a month after your last post back in 2019.
I was going to ask you some questions about it but you weren't on here back then.
I posted my pics in an album on here.

I am sooooo glad you are still around Lou. I always viewed you as a friend and mentor. I got sent to the cooler for an ill-advised post shortly after joining in 2009. You contacted me back channel, gave me a good talk and some brotherly advice, and cut my stay in the hoosegow short. An act of kindness I have never forgotten. Never got sent back again and if I was ever in the process of posting something questionable, I'd ask myself, "What would Lou think" and made appropriate changes. You are a true gentleman.

Wow, thank you all for the kind welcome backs. Almost like going to a unit reunion and hooking up with all your brothers again, only no beer and sea stories. I have so many fond memories of discussions and interactions with all of you. Thank you again.

So what did you think? I've been twice now. I think it's one of the best museums I've ever toured. I like the immersive nature of many of the exhibits. I notice one change since my last trip is they've replaced the H-19 depicting the world's first heliborne/air assault in Korea with an CH-34 in Vietnam in the rotunda. Great pics by the way.

From one of my earlier visits, H-19 Korea. BTW, the two guys talking to the right of the display are my sons. L-Ryan USMC Afghanistan/R-Chris USMC Iraq and Africa.

Very kind if you to say. I'm sure my influence was minimal, at best. You always have something interesting or informative to say. I look forward to your take on a variety of topics. Your input to discussions is always well thought out. Your knowledge of all things Marine is first rate. I'm glad you're back.
