    As a Chief on the rapidly sinking Johnston said when the Japanese started to retreat, "Damn it, boys! They're getting away!"

    An amazing read. Thanks for sharing it. The whole battle off Samar is a fascinating. I think I'll reread Last of the Tin Can Sailors.

    It’s good that they’ve located the “GQ Johnny” finally after all these years. It’s a little deep for recreational divers so they won’t be able to do any grave robbing.
