Yeah, speaking of headgear; can you believe I honestly saw a guy walk into my supermarket with a German WW2 helmet on!?!? Civilian clothes but a German helmet. I can tell you he looked very German too. Ir must have been some college frat thing.

There is a morotcycle club near where I live and most of them wear M-35 and M-40 helmets with the exception of the club leader, he wears a repo Kriegsmarine Kapitans peaked visor hat--its a darn nice repo, one of the best I have ever seen.

Thanks for the link Otto, im going to look at it now.

Otto what the #$@%!!! Are you serious??? Speaking of that kind of stuff, last spring I saw a black Porsche with all of its windows down go by. It was going the opposite direction from me, but I could have SWORN that he was wearing a Wehrmacht helmet. It just happened too quickly.

Some people out there are nuts.

Yeah, I'm serious and I'm positive he wasn't in a biker gang. He was college age and wore regular civilian clothes. I honestly think he either was doing some college initiation or was completely raving mad! [IMG]

Heh heh, I have to admit this. I am guilty of wearing my Artillery officers peaked visor hat in public. This moon madness happened on Halloween 2000. I did get all positive comments and had 6 or 7 people offer to buy it. Actually, their uniforms are a hell of alot better looking than ours was and is.

I get email from vets and active personnel who agree with me, and you know what, some of them like to wear some of their trophies in public. A collector/friend of mine likes to wear his Assmann and Sohn made Luftwaffe Pilots badge in public. I actively wear my vet given U-boat badge stickpin in public daily on my vet given U 2540 cap. Im nowhere near being a nazi as Simon Wiesenthal is.

Um i'm thinking about it. The trouble is, are you willing to pay what I have to ask for it, tailor made doeskin quality officers visors arent cheap, these usually start at about $650.00, mine is $750.00.

I had nothing to worry about. I wore the hat while riding in my car and it was in the evening/night. I didnt have a single person get angry with me wearing it, I got only good comments. What I said about the several offers to buy it is true. As a matter of fact, I still have 2 people when they see me ask if I had made up my mind about selling it. I have not as yet. Actually if/when I do sell the hat, I plan to do so only with the Artillery Majors tunic. They arent original together but both are 1939 tailor made and are made of the exact same type of material--Doe-Skin.

If you think that this was bad, an ex-neighbor of mine dressed his boy in a Hitler outfit and his girl in a black Allgemeine SS uniform. His wife made them. I was told that they didnt have any negative responses either. Before this gets out of hand--no, I am NOT a person with prejudices and hatred, and neither does my ex-neighbor. I also have a hispanic girlfriend and my best friend is colored.
