Worst WW2 movies ever made?

Oh yes, Bogart nailed that role as well. Watched "The Caine Mutiny" again a week or so ago. The wife asked me, "why are you watching that AGAIN, I know you've seen it a bunch of times?" "It's a classic and if it's on I'm gonna watch it." Fred MacMurray gives a great portrayal of the testicular challenged, duplicitous Lieutenant Thomas Keefer. One of the great films. Lee Marvin in an early role .

 

I didn't read the entire thread so this may have been mentioned but a movie that turned into a t.v. series Black Sheep Squadron. The pilots were not a bunch of misfits but were all college educated and for the most part well behaved. There was also no group of nurses called Pappy's Lambs.

 

Probably an unpopular opinion: I don't like The Thin Red Line (1998) very much. The fighting scenes were ok I guess, but the movie feels disjointed like it doesn't have a clear thread or direction. It seems an anti-war movie with religious tones, but the main character role is confusing, and I don't like the continuous mental ramblings. The story of Captain Saros and Private Bell seem like separate subplots.

 

It's not unpopular with me, I always put it on a worst movie list. The one positive you gave it, the fighting scenes, I think are rather poorly done as well.

 

Difference of opinions I guess…………..I liked it.

 

I haven't seen it yet. I would like a review as well, because I am considering seeing it.

 

It's more about the two men bonding than it is about the mission in Korea. Overall I give it two stars.

 

I agree. They seemed much more interested in filming the trees. I did like the look on the Japanese soldier's face, where he's holding that cartridge and trying to will it to go off.

 

I don't know if this one's been mentioned yet, but it's pretty awful. It's a sci-fi movie set in WW 2 called "Zone Troopers." Surprisingly, the uniforms, equipment (actual stuff not the sci-fi stuff) is actually pretty good. It's the story, acting, plot, etc., that reek. The sci-fi portion is just bad. Cheesy special effects, aliens, and sets. Right out of some 1950's B movie.

 

Sat through the remake of Dunkirk last night. Won't be doing that again, it's right up there with Fury.
Don't know what was wrong with the colour, all the blacks tended to look green, and I know my tv is ok.

 

Confused me an' all.

 

“Beach Red”, 1967. A U.S. captain, (Cornel Wilde) and his men try to take a Pacific island from the Japanese during World War II. 105 minutes. Cornel Wilde, Rip Torn, Burr DeBenning and Jean Wallace. Some actual footage of landings by the Marines in the Pacific, the best part. Ships firing, actual footage. But not very good acting and weird flashbacks to home and still shots of Marines being killed. Rotten Tomatoes only gave it 38%.

 

I've seen it, they're being generous, I'd have rated it lower.
