Hello and welcome, fencer ! You may have a problem finding Riefenstahl's famous film on the 'net. It is easily available in Europe on VHS video and ( I think ) DVD. All her work seems to be quite copyright-protected, see : - http://www.leni-riefenstahl.de There is a US website in San Diego which has some excerpts from the film but I cannot get the URL to transfer. Let's see what some of our colleagues can add....
As a follow-up on this thread, I met a college lecturer specialising in documentary film today - he confirmed that the video/dvd 'Triumph Of The Will' has mysteriously disappeared from shops during the last 18 months or so. Currently, it's completely unavailable in the UK......
I just viewed it for the first time last week, after walking into my county library and seeing a copy of it on the shelf. I almost fell over when I saw that title in the "Documentary" section available to be checked out. They also have the entire World at War series. Thought TOTW was quite boring, actually.
It Seems that the actress and director, Jodie Foster, will do a Documentary about Leni Riefenstahl. I want to buy this movie in DVD too, I saw it at Amazon.com, but I am not certain about "All Regions", mentionated there is valid here, with Portuguese subtitles. But I saw there a lot of information to buy some kind of things about "Triumph of the Will".
That would be an interesting documentary. I am curious as to what source they will be using since Reni still claims that she was an innocent pawn in Hitler's game. I am sure that she also used der fuhrer for her own gains. Afterall, she is claiming credit for the film supported by der fuhrer. If she was used, she fooled everybody because even in her visit to the U.S. her demeanor was that of an ardant nazi.
