Thanks Martin !! I just took a wild guess from the merchant part of your post. In the movie "The War Lover", What was Steve McQueens B-17's name. The one he flew into the White Cliffs of Dover at the end of the movie.
Well that did not last long !! Found this list of survivors that may interest you. Did'nt know there were so many left. http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-14368.html
Not only that, but I've got a piece of B-17F 42-5852 sitting here on my desk.... OK - next question. Staying with 'The War Lover', there's a familiar scene of a B-17 doing a belly-landing right in front the camera ( and taking out a bell-tent as it does so ). Familiar, because it's the very same crash scene lifted from 'Twelve O'Clock High'. Which famous stunt pilot was at the controls ?
Not such a wild guess at all, Ta ! It was indeed the legendary and much-lamented Paul Mantz, belly-landing a radiation-contaminated QB-17G right in front of the cameras in the days before CGI..... All yours.....
Can't think of a hard one off hand so an easy one. What country was Catch 22 filmed in with all the B-25s.
Mexico is correct. Nice to see you again KnightMove. I guess the movie did not make it to your part of the world. Say hello and get a new metal for your collection. The movie was called "Catch 22" and had lots of old B-25 Bombers flying in it. It was more of an anti-war movie from the early 70's.
I'll stick with 'Catch-22' - the production was marred by a tragic accident which claimed the life of one of the movie world's most skilled air-to-air cameramen. His most famous work is contained in 'The Battle of Britain'. Who was he ?
If I were guessing again I would say Paul Manz, but since I already used him in anouther answer I will have to ask for some hints.
He was British, his surname is the same as a famous bimbo page-3 model, and the answer can be found with dexterous internet searching....
We don't have page 3 bimbos over here. But searching the internet I found this guy missing a part of a leg from anouther film... John Jordon.
You certainly deserve this one, Ta ! Yes, John Jordan, tragically killed over the Gulf of Mexico filming 'Catch-22'.....
A Grumman Duck painted in Royal Navy colors (sorta), played a leading role in this movie. Name the movie.
OK - a nice easy one...which aircraft featured in 'The Dam Busters' can be seen today at the RAF Museum at Hendon ; the last complete survivor of its aircraft type ?
