Carl Never knew that, I knew about the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Trailor >>> YouTube - .: The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) official trailer :.
Hi Richard, sorry I didn't read all the way through to see your post about a remake of Day the Earth Stood Still, before posting. On Westworld though, I can't really imagine anyone being as good in that role, as Yul Brynner was. The only person I think that could pull it off though, would have to be: Ed Harris. The reason for that is he has a "look" to his eyes & face that would be convincing-of him as the Gunslinger. On the remake of Day the Earth Stood Still, that one I had not known was going to be remade. I can't see anyone replacing both Michael Rennie or that little boys mother-Patricia Neal.

Watched Battlefront through mail rental and it was awful. First, they colorized much of the footage and it was all over the place as far as time progression of stock. It was supposed to be about Dunkirk and most of the footage was from the Ostfront. Bad supposed authority interviewed....a mumbling uninteresting nerdy professor. I used to watch the History Channel back when it first came on the air. There was a decent host....Johnny I forget his name and they ran some good footage. Firepower, Wings of the Luftwaffe, and Battleline?(may have this title wrong)(Not the B&W one with the German Guy and the American guy told from each perspectives) It had good graphics for the time, good score and I remember a compass and the maps.....Does anyone remember this? So what's good besides World At War and the other titles I mentioned?
Laughed my head off at a Futurama double bill, the first two all new Futurama specials. Benders Big Score & The Beast with a Billion Backs. I got Benders Game on order.
Grey Wolves: U-Boats at War 1939-41 (DVD). Lots of great footage, some of which I had not seen before.
Hey I saw that same film too, but on DVD: what a coincidence ! I saw it at 10 pm. Don't tell me you saw at the same time, that would be funny.
It started at 10:05 Finnish time so I guess I had watched the movie for one hour when you started your DVD....
This morning caught a bit of the eagle has landed must get this classic on DVD.And the last two nights ghost rider, with nic cage and a bit of duke the Horse Soldiers, easy to watch the duke and easy to enjoy
Last night I started watching Magnum Force - which is one of Clints five Dirty Harry movies. Watched it again this morn. Also last night, I was able to cath the last half of Platoon-and still didn't see anyone that I thought looked like Johnny Depp.
Im watching the 1975 cult classic "The Land that Time Forgot" with Doug Mcclure. I love the first half with the WWI German sub and crew. Here ya go C.Evans some scenes from "Platoon" with Depp in them. YouTube - Johnny Depp Platoon
I finally saw Soylent Green completely for the first time on TCM. Heston was good but I can't help but feel disturbed by how the story went. Parts of it was too dark for my taste. Or is it only me? A Bridge Too Far is among my favorites especially with Sean Connery and Robert Redford delivering good performances.
Starting watching the DVD series of "The War" by Ken Burns. I have watched about the first four episodes. It is not a detailed, factual tracing of the war or its causes with battlefield maneuvers , but rather the impact of the war on people caught up in it. Or how the home front endured while the fighting and killing were going on is remote corners of the world. So far so good. But the element of racial discrimination had to been focused on as well (PC pressure). Here I think that Burns spends way too much time about how America treated minorities over 67 years ago. Do a separate film on racial civil rights, Ken. So I don't recommend "The War" as even a History Channel overview piece - even the HC makes better such films. But I"ll admit Ken can truly evoke the feeling of the 40s, and how difficult it was for the people (civilain and military) to get through the war years. 3 Stars out of five
Hi JC, FalconJ/ Texson, JC, thanks for the Utube links for Platoon. My only problem is the library seems to have utube blocked for some reason? Hopefully i'll get to see them once I get the new 'puter up and running. FalconJ/ It's been many years since I last saw that movie from start to finish-and only recently when played on TCM-I cought the last several minutes of it. Anyway, the story is suppused to be a pretty dark one. I was actually surprised that Charlton Heston and Edward G. Robinson both-would lend their great talents to a movie like this. It's not a bad movie but, it's not one of my favorite Heston and Robinson films.
