I was at Best Buy, (an America electronics & media store) recently ans saw DVD's for a few WWII shows including Band of Brothers, Combat!, Black Sheep Squadron and Hogan's Heroes. It got me thinkin about what other (non-documentary) WWII TV Shows are out there? Here is an initial list, if you want to add to the list, please provide years of original broadcast and links, anything else provided will be appreciated. [IMG]

Thanks for the link, pww ! I remember seeing that series on British TV in the mid-sixties - I'd completely forgotten that Ernest Borgnine had the leading role.

Thanks for the additional links Col Hessler. [IMG] And you were right about Flags of our Fathers, that's an upcoming film. The Pacific War is the TV show by the same creators as Band of Brothers.

    Additions and corrections made. ;)

I was surfing for more information on 156 squadron and found this link on TV shows from 1999 and wondered if any of the British members saw the show and if it was good.
Scroll down about 2/3's of the page to John Crawford. It is about a Lancaster Crew.

This was in fact a production for radio, not TV. Within those limitations, it is OK but more of a curiosity than definitive.

It was also available as an audio cassette and sometimes turns up on e-bay.

Anyone remember what was the name of that awful series about the pink submarine? Was that Operation Petticoat?

Seems like it was based on a movie, lasted maybe two seasons (if that long)... utterly forgettable...

    Oh, my, God.

No one has mentioned "Victory at Sea"

    Or "The Silent Service"
