surprisingly, Kai... yes, it so happens to be a Finn, as I'm sure you're aware
and thanks, I've been checking this place out for a while, and have found it to be a place of healthy discussion. And I promise not to forcefully mention Finnish war heroes in every post, in case you were fearing that

Lord of War,
I don´t mind. But I´m a bit afraid that the heroes we are aware of don´t bring any ideas even to those German WW2 history fans...
Great question however. Hope someone else knows the answer as the person is a bit of an international star!

Well Thank you sir. Here it goes.
In 1941, Yakov Dzhugashvili was captured by the Germans. What was the significance of this?

Ha ha. Correct!
Josef Stalin's oldest son, Yakov Dzhugashvili (Stalin's original last name was Dzhugashvili), was captured by the Nazis in 1941. The Nazis offered Stalin a trade: the release of a German general for the return of Yakov, his son. Unfortunately for Yakov and for millions of other captured Russians, Stalin believed all captured soldiers were betrayers - possible spies. Stalin refused the trade. Yakov died in 1943; he was shot while trying to escape from the Nazi concentration camp of Sachsenhausen. For over half a century, Yakov's family had not known his fate. the U.S. handed over the information about his death to Galina Dzhugashvili, Yakov's daughter.

In August 1939 there was a tank battle on the "eastern front", that produced one of WWII's greatest exponents of tank warfare.
Name the person or the two waring parties.

That was a tricky one though. Here is an easy one.
Hermann Goring had a "mini Goring". One who enjoyed the same excesses, palaces, art, glamorous uniforms and even had the same build. Who was he?

Here's an even easier one,
In which date was Karl Donitz appointed Commmodore?

You have to wait until you get a winning answer before you can ask a question.
Figure out who mini Goring is and then it is your turn.

It was not Erhard Milch. This individual was not a great organizer and not really militarily talented.

Not Mussolini.
Hint: He was commander of the Condor Legion.
