Skopje might be it but I guess Kiev. I remember that German HQ at one point calculated that they could feed 1.5 million and there were some 2 million in the city so they got rid of some 500,000. Kiev and German Army ( SS and Wehrmacht ).

Seems like it is your question Martin:
In 1941 the city was occupied by the Italians, who surrounded it with barbed wire in 1942. After the capitulation of Italy, Ljubljana was occupied by the Germans.

Martin, you got it.
Italians enclosed Ljubljana with 41 kilometres of barbed wire, which connected 69 bunkers and 11 checkpoints. The city became hostage of the Italian fascist army.

Good question though, hamburg - I'd not previously been aware of this.
Now I will have to scratch my head to think of a question....
LATER
OK, this is a sort of multi-part movie/wwii question but what the heck ? It's Christmas.....
The fictional Bomb Group in the legendary movie 'Twelve O'Clock High' was based on which real-life Group ? Which UK airfield did they fly from, and why was their most famous member famous for supposedly peeling potatoes ?
Go to it, men !

Ah, fishing for a hint here.....Was the potato-peeler perhaps peeling those potatoes when USAAF brass came to the airfield to award him some high medal?

Beirne Lay wrote the book but it's not the answer... divide by three ( which is what Lay did ) and you're on your way.
