I think you mean 'Humpy' Bogart, although he never said 'Play it again, Sam' in Casablanca (1942). That was Ingrid Bergman. 'Humpy' storms into the bar and says "I thought I told you never to play that...." and then sees Ilsa Lazlo!!!

A drinking Rick tells Sam, "You played it for her, you can play it for me. So play it."

This is the line that everyone "remembers" as "Play it again, Sam."

I can't answer this one as I last saw it about 15 years ago. I remember almost nothing about the movie. I also had it on tape but--I loaned to to a friend who accidently recorded "Down and out in Beverly Hills" on it.

Professor Cronstaetter was the alias of the film's Feldmarshall Erwin Rommel. Cronstaetter was in North Africa in 1937 digging pre-dynastic tombs. In actuality, he was preparing for the African campaign by burying fuel and supplies. (Your typical wartime propaganda piece.) Rommel/"Cronstaetter" was played by Erich von Stroheim.
