Question Nr.1
What actor played Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel in the fine war movie: "The Longest Day?"
Answers can easily be checked on any movie at the IMDB link that Otto has as a sticky at the top of these forums.

Werner Hinz
Filmed in 1962.
My first guess would have been the late great James Mason, but he was in "The Desert Fox" & "The Desert Rats"

Heres a few,
Name the song sung at the start and end of Cross of Iron.
Where is James Ryan's middle name? The real one at the end.
In Saving Private Ryan they capture a Waffen SS man after they raided the rader station. What did he refer to Betty Boo as?
In Enemy at the Gates, what character did Bob Hoskins play, and how poorly did he play it?
Name the song the German tankmen sang in Battle of the Bulge, the one where they slam their boots were singing it.
Name the tank that ran over a German soldier during Band of Brothers: Carantan.
In Great escape, one POW also played a high-ranking SS officer in which other film? Hint, he went blind in Great Escape.
Well thats it, answer these all correctly then you watch films to often.

What blonde-haired Irish actor played the German Colonel Hessler, in the movie "Battle of the Bulge?"
Sorry zeal--you gotta answer correctly a quiz--before asking a question

I'll be nasty and start with a difficult one.
Who caused a 'stir' in Hollywood circles by insisting that his own name was removed from the credit list of 'A Bridge Too Far' - and why did he do this ?

Johan Hobo!
He played a part of a German officer, but was never credited...He did it, because he was...It was his change to break through in the US, but remaining creditless does not do much for you.
They also payed him less because of it, I believe.

Very good try, Stevin...and I wasn't aware of this gentleman...but it's not the answer I was after! ( I don't think he caused controversy which 'my' man did ).
Clue : he wasn't an actor, he was well-known at the time for his work on other films, and it had something to do with aircraft...
There ! I've given it away now

He flew 'stunt' in the vintage planes, but didn't get credit...??

You've got to give him credit for trying !
No, I can assure you that Chuck Yeager had nothing to do with the film.
OK, another clue - the man in question did fly bombers in WWII....

Walter Matthieu, forgive my spelling...
He didn't actually fly in a B17. He was a gunner....He was upset because he was about the only actor with a rep that wasn't in the film???

I've never seen anyone try so hard !
Sorry, Walter Matthau had nothing to do with 'A Bridge Too Far' as far as I know....One last clue, the same man was involved in the same capacity with '633 Squadron' and 'The Battle Of Britain'...
And, as they say in all the best movies, I'll give you 24 hours....

I thought I had it, but you said it had to do with the planes....
If it had to do with the music score, I'd probably had it...This Walton guy wrote loads of scores for the movie, but many were cast aside. The score was in fact written and credited to a WW2 vet (who was in the air force, I believe) by the name of Adsley or something.
As I know nothing about 'the men behind the scenes'of any of these movies, I tend to give up. I don't like it, but there you have it.

Ronald Beernink?
This movie poster was withdrawn by the artistic department of United Artists, because it felt that the text "special guest star - Ronald Beernink" was a line too many. Legal efforts to instead drop the overlong name of "Maximilian Schell" in favour of "Ron Beernink" drew sharp criticism from the german actors guild who felt that Schell was being victimised due to his german heritage. The international court in the Hague ruled in favour of the germans.
