The other one was becoming too extense...

Carl von Mannerheim's turn. His question:

Quote:
"-Which Carthiginian Commander was left in command in Iberia when Hannibal Crossed the alps

-When he attempted to link up with Hannibal, he got killed: Where and When?

HINT: Hannibal was his brother"
Otto: please close the other topic and unfeature it.

And the answer is Hasdrubal Barca (245 b.C. - 207 b.C.). Carthagenian soldier. Brother of Hannibal. When the latter marched on Rome he remained as Carthagenian military commander in Hispania. Defeated in Tortosa (215) by P. Cornelius Scipio, he went to Africa, where he smashed a Numdic rebelion. Again in Hispania, in Ilorci, he defeated Cneus Scipio but later he was defeated at Baecula in 209 and lost Cartago Nova. He then went to Italy to help Hannibal, but was defeated and killed by consul Claudius Nero, near Metaurus.

Name the German officer (name and rank) who came up with the victorious strategy at the battle of Tannenberg in 1914 which involved destroying the two Russian Armies one by one.

No. He only took credit from the victory. And actually prevented general Von François of achieving an even greater victory.

All right. Here's a Franco-Prussian War question:

Name the French officer who commanded a cavalry division during the battle of Sedan and that heroically led it in three fateful frontal charges trying to break the Prussian encirclement.

Hint: Général Ducrot, commander in chief of the Châlons Army had asked the officer in question: "Could you charge again?" And this officer responded: "Of course we can, we'll charge as many times as you want. Over and over again until there's no one left!"

In the days leading up to WW1 the French had a plan which called for a French Offensive into Alsace and Lorraine.

Give me the name of the plan.

Ok everyone, a two part question. Eisenhower had drawn up a plan in 42 for the invasion of the French mainland. What was the plan and where was the landing site?
