Sorry about the delay.

What two American-built battleships were sunk by the Germans during the Second World War?

The USS Idaho and USS Mississippi were sunk by German dive bombers. They were under the Greek flag and going under the names Kilkis and Lemnos at the time, having been sold to Greece by the US.

(If I got it right, you go again or designate a new victim. I am not in position to dependably respond for the next week or so.)

I'm going to stick with old battleship theme.

What former US battleship performed service during the Second World War as ammo strorage barge?

USS Oregon, BB 3
Towed to Guam as an ammunition barge.

Sampson (in command but ashore at the time), and Schley would roll over in their graves if they discovered that the ship that ran down the Cristobal Colon and effectively put an end to the battle of Santiago was a barge at Guam.

Think I'll have a "Cuba-Libre" .....yee-haw !

That it was Skip, but those coal bins made for excellent ammo storage.
Thanks Slip

How many "Pill-Boxes" (mutually supporting & of various sizes) were in the Siegfried line ?
Within 75....close enough.

What's that in Uh-mercan? Hey, Portagee or Jan7, can you translate that for me? I used my translator for the 158th time and it doesn't work anymore.
