last hint,

His bullets were credited with hitting Georings plane, bringing him down in WW 1.
He was no less of a major figure in WW 2 "Air" operations.

Regained the initiative (offensive) in PTO for the Allies. Invented numerous techniques for successful attacks.

Known to the Japanese as "the Beast".

What was the most bombed city in World War Two, not tonnage or amount of destruction, the largest numbers of sorties flown against it ?
