There is something special about the turret on Bovington Tiger I. What is it?
Hint: it has nothing to do with Bovington's Tiger I.

Close enough. Actually Krupp designed turrets for both Tigers and they were essentially the same, difference was in the traverse, which was electric in Porsche Tiger and hydraulic in Henschel. So the turret on Bovington Tiger was made for Porsche Tiger, and when they were cancelled, the traverse system of the turret was changed to hydraulic.
Your turn.

As a side note on the Bovington tiger, their website ( The Tank Museum, Bovington UK - Restoration of Tiger Tank 131, captured during World War II ) has a photographic 'Journal' that describes, in excruciating detail, how to take a Tiger apart, clean it up, and put it back together. Some interesting interior and running-gear details.

Unfortunately, hi-res pictures must be purchased. Still, for all the tigerlikers out there, worth a visit.

Now, back to the regularly scheduled pop-quiz -

-Your 'Go', Skunk.

-whatever

OK then,

B-29s dropped mines all around the well used waterways of Japan in "Operation Starvation". Two sizes ....1,000 lbs for water up to 15 fathoms, and 2,000 lbs for water up to 25 fathoms. Both could function in ten feet of mud.
Why was it said that, "The dammed things can do everything but fry eggs." ?

Hint ?

Because of "their" options...

magnetic/influence exploders,
delay settings (you could program them to sit "idle" for a while (yer call)and then go active),
then become inert (so you wouldn't have to sweep them up afterwards),

one more......name it

Actually, a ship counter. Set to however many you want (to go by) till it goes active. This was very effective in hampering "sweeping" efforts.

surprise-surprise !

close enough, yer go

(they never did clean them up, they just went inactive....hopefully)
