are you addin a gun (towed or self propelled)(usually 105mm), and an anti-tank (37mm changed to 57mm later) ? If so...add two more...so...18 ?
Heavy weapons were every fourth company, not additional ?

Look at a TO&E.

I'll give you a choice of two numbers, depending on how you classify one formation. It isn't called a company in the TO&E, but it is company sized.

I would have taken 19 or 20.

The Medical detachement wasn't considered a company, but was company sized. It would be number 20.

Your go.

As you will find in my excellent article on this subject (arm breaking due to back patting) it was the US battleship Mississippi at Suguaro Straight at 0408 on 25 October 1944.

Didn't the Mississippi have a hard time acquiring a target without endangering friendlies as well ?
It almost didn't get in a shot at all (or was that Tennessee?), and when the opportunity presented itself...it at least emptied it's loaded guns.
Albeit, a bit after the fact (battle being about over).

You allowed a bit of back patting, Terry.

Vex us with a new question.
