I thought the same thing. I have never seen his picture though so I can't tell. When I was 15 and working at McDonalds(who didn't when they where 15) I had a guy come in who looked like he had to be no younger than 25. I inquired to his age after a very nice elderly lady paid for his food. As it turned out the guy was 14. Just goes to show you really can never tell.
And by the way I'm 23 and I look like I'm about 15.

When you're 40, you'll be happy that you look younger than you are, trust me.

I took it to mean '..assigned to an operational, combat squadron', not a transitional or training unit.

Just for the record, I've seen it mentioned in numerous sources, and it's always worded as '...squadron service'.

-whatever

-Lou

EDIT: According to this site, the ME-262 became 'operational' in October, '44.

The aircraft I'm referring to entered 'squadron service' in July, '44 (but never saw 'plane to plane' combat)

Hmm. Ok. There were at least two geschwaders of ME 262s. JG7 and the famous JV44. But I now see the timeline you posted. So I Guess those don't count. I'll stick to stuff I know.......................like Stugs!

Where and when was the first time American forces were subjected to a Japanese bonzai charge?

Attu Island in the Aleutians - led by Captain Yasugo Yamazaki of the Special Naval Landing Force (Marines) on May 29, 1943.

sources vary, but somewhere between 1,000 and 2,500 Japanese attacked..... 28 survived.

I can't for the life of me imagine anything more violent and terrifying than trying to fend off a determined suicide attack.

Scary stuff.

O-o-o-o-kay.....

What American General, upon being told that he might not be awarded a commission after his graduation from West Point (due to a knee injury), seriously considered (and wrote away for information about) moving to Argentina and becoming a gaucho?

....that's right.... a gaucho.... a horse ridin', bolo swingin' 'Rider of the Pampas!'

Good grief!
