That would be correct, Earl, except the B would be Battery B, not Company B. FA Battalions were divided into batteries, not companies.

Throw out a good one.

Oh that story is hilarious! I feel bad for the crew, but oh my ....

What was the strength of the Canadian Navy in 1939 and what was it at the war's end in 1945?

Your numbers vary a bit from mine, but close enough.

I had 1939, only 38 ocean-going merchant ships with a total of about 290,000 tonnes, manned by approximately 1,450 Canadian seamen. From Canada's shipyards, from the first delivery in December 1941 to shortly after the war's end, 403 cargo ships, 281 escort ships (destroyers, corvettes, frigates), 206 minesweepers, 254 tugs, asnd 3,302 landing craft. They had the 4th largest navy at the war's end.

Your go, Mike.

You got it Jeff. I know it was easy. Next one will be tougher.

Quote:
Major Henderson was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism at the historic Battle of Midway, one of the decisive battles of history in which the leadership of the fleet commander and the valor of a handful of pilots changed the course of the war. While his plane was leading 16 Marine Corps planes in a glide bombing attack on the aircraft carrier Hiryū, the left wing burst into flames as he began his final approach. Henderson continued the attack and perished as his plane dived toward the enemy carrier.

Yer up Jeff

There are some rogues who should have no problem with this question.

Identify the first air ace in history to amass 100 kills.

Bonus points if you can tell me why some should find this question very easy.

The reason it should be an easy one is that it was the first question asked.

Oh, Part one, I see...

anyways...

During WWII, the US convicted 33 people in one spy ring for espionage, the largest US espionage case resulting in convictions. Who was the leader?
What was the ring called?

When in a convoy (as in the Mediterranean) and attacked by aircraft, (dropping flares) about 0400 hrs (right after moon-set & before sun-rise)...what was the best defense, and what was the worst?

Hint ?

The flares were so they could catch a silhouette of you and have a target to shoot at. They couldn't see you, but they knew you were there. They didn't dare come out in daylight (most of the time) for fear of being slaughtered by the dominant Allied air cover.

They were trying to see you....what was best & what was worst to prevent this ?

last hint

Hide behind a _ _ _ _ _ screen, and avoid indiscriminate 20mm fire because they would follow the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ back to you.
