WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
I kinda miss this so Here I go and will start it up again. First correct answer gets to pose their own question.
Name the only American General killed in WWII due to enemy action.

Simon Bolivar Buckner. Lesley McNair was hit by 'friendly' artillery.
I'm not ready at the moment to pose a question myself, play it again PzJgr, please.

Re: WWII Forum Quiz
You twisted my arm. Here is an oldie but goodie...
When awarding this individual the Knight's Cross, Hitler made the comment, "If I had a son, I would wish him to be like you." Who was he talking to?

Re: WWII Forum Quiz
Well, lets see...FührerBegleitbataillon i believe. Something along the lines of a unit used to personally protect Hitler during the Polish campaign, though they did see a little combat (could be wrong). The 7th Panzer in France was his first combat-Unit command.

Re: WWII Forum Quiz
This is a two part question:
1. The 44th Infantry Division was destroyed in Stalingrad. What was it renamed to after Stalingrad and where did it serve?
2. Where was the original 44th Infantry Division formed?

Re: WWII Forum Quiz
The 44th Infantry Division was orginally formed in April of 1938 in Vienna, Austria. I believe that after their defeat in Stalingrad the division was renamed Reichsgrenadier Division Hoch und Deutschchmeister and served in Italy.

Re: WWII Forum Quiz
Thanks Mussolini! I was a little worried, it being my first crack at WWII trivia and all. Luckily (although sometimes reluctantly), I have been receiving mandatory WWII classes every Sunday by my dear GROFAZ.
Next quiz question:
Many poeple know of the tragic story of Anne Frank. Some may also know there was member of the Frank family who's life made their persecution by the Nazi regime all the more despicable. Who was this person and why was this persecution so ironically tragic?

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
This sounded like one possibility:
Otto Frank's business friend, Tonny Ahlers, who helped him to continued his spice trade from the hiding place, betrayed the family (?). Tonny Ahlers was a member of the Nazi party.
http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/annefran.htm
Just putting the question mark as it seems it is not clear who betrayed them in the end. The men who arrested the family have mentioned though that it was a woman´s voice (??) who told where they were....

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
Good try but no. I am looking for the name of an actual family member and the reason why they made their family's persecution by the Nazi regime so ironic.
Kai-Petri is the closest so far.
Hint:
He shares the namesake of our GROFAZ.

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
Do you mean this?
"Otto Frank, Anne´s father, in World War I proudly fought for Germany—which he believed to be his homeland—as an officer in the trenches of the Somme. "

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
Correct Kai! Anne's father Otto Frank did serve in the German Army during WWI, he was even promoted to the rank of lieutenant during the conflict. The fact that he fought with Hitler in WWI makes the persecution of his family very ironic.

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
Thanx again, "Trouble"!
My question:
Usually the Germans prepared their offensives long and hard, at least during the first part of war. What´s so different about the planning of the invasion of Norway? Who planned and on what? ( that even gives a tip..)

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
Was it Hitler who ordered Operation Weserübung after the Altmark was stopped by the British fleet on Feb 16th? (Weserübung was decided on March 1st and launched on April 9th).
my second guess : an allied expedition force (British and French went to NARVIK early April to control the Iron road )

Re: WWII Forums Quiz Part VII
Yes, Hitler ordered it but he gave the planning to someone else and it did not last long really...Who planned, on what, and how long it took?
