Re: Name that tank!
Renault FT Kegresse (M24/25), shown here under test by the US.
They are indeed Rubber band tracks. Possibly deployed in Morroco.
I've a report on their use somewhere but cannot now find the thing.

Re: Name that tank!
You got it's the Renault M24/25 that was used in Morocco during the rebellion.

Re: Name that tank!
Most likely a Skoda design, I would say a LT vz. 35 known as Pz 35(t) in German service.

1923 St. Chamond.
A 'not terribly good' wheel-cum-track device flogged to the Spanish... which must have surprised the French salesmen somewhat.
A handful seem to have turned up in Japan too... lord knows how.

No fair, Von Poop you are too good! I am humbled by your knowledge of armored vehicles. But don't worry I will find a doozy for you one day

Re: Name that tank!
Good call ToS, always prepared to believe the excellent Chars-Francais over other sources when it comes to French vehicles.
( Google translation of that page.)
No expert on Uniforms but that chap just 'looked' Spanish to me.
Had a shufti for a web-reference, my written stuff on it being sketchy and old, and 'Tanks' has this on their use of it:
Spain (Who I think must be using the same books as me ).
You can imagine the French salesmen again, having had this junk knocking around for a couple of years; "Ah yes General Sanchez... it is of course the very latest 1923 model."
I don't think I really got that - next question open to all.

Re: Name that tank!
This one should be easy. I will find a much harder one.

Re: Name that tank!
We just had the Skoda LT vz. 35, that drive train looks like it's successor the S-II-c or one of it's numerous derivatives/alternate names (T-21, Turan I, Turan II, T-22, T-23M) probably not a Turan as it had 5 return rollers and the cupola of the Turan was different as well.

Re: Name that tank!
It's not a Skoda or a Turan. Right country, wrong make. Keep trying.

Re: Name that tank!
The CDK/Praga designs were usually big roadweel ones but the CDK V-8-H (vz 39) looks similar to that picture.

Re: Name that tank!
That is it. I was sure someone was gonna get it on the first try. Your go.

Re: Name that tank!
I doubt even most people here would get the right Sherman variant on the first try far less the very confusing evolution of the Czech designs with four or five "users" each giving them totally different names and making variations. After all there was only vz 39 completed (plus a turretless second prototype) and unless you find a photo of it, which I missed on the first try, you can only guess.
Wanted to post the first one but it's a "missing link" that doesn't have an official name so no way to check the answer, extra points to anyone who can identify the from and to of the link but it's not the official question.
For the real one I'm going to be nice, I want the one ol the left in the second picture but didn't cut out the one on the right that gives a lot of pointers as full front pictures that hide the drive train are hard.

Re: Name that tank!
All 3 are from the same country (and BTW same source), there is one detail on the right one that should be a dead giveaway.

Re: Name that tank!
Hello Kruska
Not 100% correct but close enough, it's the Semovente M43 prototype but it's still armed with the 105/20 not the 105/25 of the production model.
The one on the right with the nearly readable licence plate (I can read the initial RE anyway) is a Semovente M42 75/18 and the "missing link" is a M41 modified to act as prototype for the Carro Celere Sahariano.
Over to you.

Re: Name that tank!
Hello T.O.S,
well - I wouldn't even have known about the 105/20, thanks for some interesting info.
Allright just found out about that crazy thing:

Re: Name that tank!
Looks like the Tsar Tank / Netopyr / Lebedenko Tank or whatever else you want to call it, crazy concept, why two huge weels and a very small one that will get stuck in the first ditch it tries to cross ?
