Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
The French Battlecruiser Dunkerque after her capture at Toulon. She was scuttled by the French to keep her out of German hands and then suffered more depredations at the hands of Italian salvage crews.

Missing bow and superstructure. Otherwise it might have been the similarly salvaged sister ship Strasbourg
And, yes the scanner is still dead. Software issues now. Got the computer back up but having problems with periferrials.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
How about a question this time: Name the aircraft carrier that had the largest hanger space of any built during WW 2.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
No, Jeff isn't correct. Shinano had only a half hanger forward and aft and both were actually quite small given her size.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
I'm now thinking of the Lexington. She and the Saratoga were very large ships. Perhaps both would qualify, but I'll go with the Lexington if we must name one.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
Check this out:
Design/Conversion: Original hull remained essentially unchanged but was fitted with large hangar, the largest hangar until CVA 59 postwar.

The [/i]Midway[/i] class isn't it either. Another hint, one-of-a-kind vessel.

I thought for sure it would be Lady Lex. I'll have to guess USS Ticonderoga (CV-14)
