Thanks Jeff, I knew it was the long hulled, but wasn't sure how many had been built.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
Well, I was keeping it to vessels that actually got built. Another hint: No one has even mentioned a carrier in this navy so far.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
No, not the Italians. I'm deducting points for that answer Tom.....Which part of warmer wasn't clear? I should clarify my original question too. I meant served rather than built....at work and rushed the question but, it should be fairly easy to figure out.

By that criteria, the answer would be the Lexington or the Saratoga. Gonna deduct some points for THAT!

I knew someone would get it sooner or later. The Ark Royal has more total hanger space than any WW 2 carrier and even earlier US super carriers like the Forrestall class. Ark Royal's upper hanger measured 60 x 586 feet and the lower 60 x 452 giving a total deck area of 52,580 sq ft.
Of course, most of that went to waste due to an inefficent elevator arrangement and lack of aircraft in the FAA.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
Its US. The ZG-1 blimp in the background gives that much away on its own. It appears to be one of the Yorktown class given the sponson arrangement and lack of deck edge elevator.

Re: Name This Naval Vessel 2
T. A. is partially correct, It is US, but an Essex class.
Hint: she was named after an American Revolutionary War battle.
