Re: Name This Strategic Military Location
Don't feel too bad, Lou, I just used them to verify my hunch. I would have guessed Remagen anyway.
Here's one in the Pacific. Jack has been here.

Another hint. The city shown was the objective of a failed Japanese invasion.

Not Surigao. This place was important two years before that. See my first hint, Jack (SouthWestPacificVet) was here at some point.

Re: Name This Strategic Military Location
I'm assuming those are coordinates for Port Morsesby, Lou, but since you PMed asking me to give it to the others, Lippert, you're the winner. Port Moresby is correct.
Give 'er a go.

Re: Name This Strategic Military Location
The location you'll be seeking is the largest member of this archipelago. Any pilot shot down here would be in trouble, the island was crawling with angry Japanese, and the jungle was quite a Bush.

Re: Name This Strategic Military Location
Thanks Lippert! Here's an island that should be easy to identify. The "tadpole" lies in a position to protect the capital of a US ally. It was also the HQ for American forces there before WWII.
