Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
Close.
He was the first and only general from this country to be killed by enemy action.

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
No, not him, but you have the correct country.
I guess Glogojanu was technically was killed by enemy action, but I was thinking more of a "combat" death in a forward area and not a death as the result of a booby trap explosion in a building.

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
Ladies and Gentleman, Ike has come through in the clutch with the answer.
I had his name as Alecu Ioan Sion.
Give him a round of applause.
Now the torment begins...

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
Here's an easy one. Is pictured here as a Waffen SS Oberfuhrer but last held rank was SS Brigadefuhrer and one of my favorites.

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
Yup. Easy like I said. Last command was that of the 12 SS Panzer Divsion Hitlerjugend and was killed when his HQ was bombarded. Panzer Meyer took over. All yours

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
Ok, name this character
He could have doubled for another general in more than stature

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
Man that was quick. You are correct. Sperrle rivaled Goring in taste for art, loot, uniform medals, food and weight.

Re: Name that general! (with written questions too)
alright a hint: he was executed by firing squad in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, for his role as the commander of the German Air Force units involved in the Bombing of Belgrade in 1941.
