I'm not exactly sure but IIRC it was a Japenese plane meant to be attached to the underside of a "Betty" bomber and flown into ships.

The Germans had a similar program. Their "flying bombs" were called Mistel's. The plane shown looks like it has the body of a Ju-88.

I think you are referring to the Okha ...

Ohka - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and it's way off the mark, different country and purpose.

I admit it's ugly but, considering it's from the early thirties, not ugly enough to be French ...

The Italian Piaggio P.23R transport/bomber contraption. 2 cockpits, side by side (that I can't see) ??????

Blacksnake got it, it's one of the "flying vespas" and I think it was a "record plane" not a bomber though it evoved into the P32 bomber and some unconfirmed sources state they wanted to use one for a raid against New York in 1943.

I had hopes for this one as the pic is the 850 hp Isotta Fraschini XI Asso powered early form and most pics existing are of the Piaggio P XI RC 40 radial engined later form.

There is a picture of it in it's radial engined form that shows the cockpits a bit better, visibility at take off was probably non existent.

It would seem I touched lucky then T/O/S. I found the same photo you posted, without the cockpit canopies of the later model. It too links the P 23 with the P 23R even though the two bear no resemblance whatsoever.

Okay ... Here's mine...

... I like it Gromit.

All things considered, me being BAD is a direct result of y'all being so damn GOOD !!

So here is the "give away" clue (to prove I'm an angel at heart) ... It's French, and that contraption on top aint a rocket or jet but a radiator.
