This beauty had some advanced features on it, a 37mm cannon, an enclosed cockpit that was heated, crew of 4, a stunning rate of climb of 10,000 feet in one hour

It was built as an anti-Zeppelin fighter. Only one was built for the Royal Flying Corps.

Can you just think what went thru the crews minds when they were told to go fly this sleek beauty !

Like the Pirate ship she be ... Arrrg!

I like the Da Vinci tank turret on stilts too !

I can't figure out if it is a bomber or transport or what. I want to say it is a Farman of some type but I can't find a picture so far. It has lots of wrinkles, maybe if they ironed it ?

Damn, I had posted a hint in the same minute you came up with the answer

It's the Beardmore Inflexible, that's quite correct!

It's amazing that it was an all metal construction! The wrinkles remind me of a poor canvas application...like TA152 said .... it wouldnt hurt if they "ironed" it! LOL!

BTW was there a Ministry of Silly Airplane Names in the 1920's in the UK????

Yes. It was a sub-ministry of Silly Airplanes.

It was just the Ministry of Silly Airplanes. The names were just gratitutious. They occupied the same building as the Ministry of Silly Walks and Ministry of Redundant Place Names.
