Re: Name that Person
1. Received the Distinguished Service Order as part of the Royal Navy in Gallipoli.
2. Born in London, England.
3. Received nine wounds in World War I
4. Received Distinguished Service Order, Victoria Cross, Croix de Guerre, and was Knight Commander of the Order of Bath by the end of World War II.
5. Killed by one of his war wounds at Windsor on 4 July 1963.
Should be quite hard, I intentionally left out the more obvious facts. He is, however, quite famous. Have fun

Re: Name that Person
darn it, that went fast. I tried to insert the Royal navy to throw people off, and even completely left out New Zealand.
Great job General Patton. Your turn

Re: Name that Person
I had a vague idea that it may be Badoglio, then I googled it and found that his town had been re-named after him and that was it... It didn't take more than a minute!
Now, let me think on a guy...

Re: Name that Person
Yes! I think I got it...the artillery gave it away right away...
1. Despite disliking the political standpoint of the Nazis, he was quite close to Hitler, even borrowing a large sum of money. (It was nothing to Hitler, obviously.)
2. Passively opposed Hitler's Anschluss and Fall Grun, but did absolutely nothing to help or hinder the 1938 coup plotters.
3. Heart attack resulted in his relief from command. He spent the last three years in a hunting lodge in former Czechoslovakia.
Walter von Brauchitsch

Re: Name that Person
Exactly! Your go, Stoar!
Well done. I think it was too difficult, but I now think differently!
But the artillery thing is misguiding... his first regiment was an élite Guard regiment...
