Isn't he the guy that after the war was almost court-martialed due to his lack of quick thinking during the initial battles of Monte Cassino and his wastage of two prime American divisions ?

Arrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!!! Again!!!
Yes, liutenant general Mark Clark, chief of US 5th Army took Rome June 4th 1944. He knew about the D-day so he hurried his troops because he wanted the attention on him for a while. Which he would have not had if he had entered Rome after D-day. And he was not a good commander for me. He wasted his troops too much. he simply gave them to Kesselring.

yeah i was never thrilled with the way the war was fought in Italy...frankly i don't understand why there was fighting in italy at all after the invasion of southern france? Fighting after that event was pointless and wasteful...as long as the allies had forces there the germans would remain there...they should have just dug in and stopped attacking.

On March 20, 1944 He and Rudel landed their plane in a muddy field, after attakcing a bridge near Jampol. He wants to take aboard the crew of a Ju87 that crashlanded there. Because of the muddy field, they cannot take off again and have to swim the river Djnestr to get to their own lines. Hentschel drowns in the river.
What a disasterous end for a gunner, who had been flying with Rudel for over 1,000 missions.

Sorry to say Carl and Friedrich, but rules are rules! You can only pose a question if you are the first to answer one correctly. And you can only ask your question one the person who asked it has confirmed your correct response.
Stevin is the next up at the plate to ask...

We are sorry, Herr Generalfeldmarschall!
If we were in the Red Army you would shoot us, wouldn't you?
But well, I had to try...

Friedrich,
Gerardus Mooyman was Dutch. Born in 1923, he signed up for the SS in 1942. As a member of 14.(PAK)/SS-Freiwilligen Legion Nederland he fought (amongst others) in the battles near the Ladoga lake. After the first day of Soviet attacks, the Dutch saw that the russians were digging in a PAK gun near their own lines. At night, Mooyman crawled over there and blew the thing up. Next day the Norwegian SS unit on their flank was attacked and Mooyman made his 13 kills with his PAK that day. He had 21 kills altogehter. He was awarded the RK on Feb. 20 1943.
The German propaganda made great use of this. Himmler had said that the first foreign RKT should be a Dutchman, and he got his wish. Mooyman was sent on a promational tour all over Holland to induce enlistment in the SS. His nickname became 'Der Panzerjaeger'. All in all he won: EKII (04-02-1943), EKI(10-02-1943), Ostmedaille 1941-1942, Verwundeten Abzeichen in Silber, Infanterie Sturmabzeichen, Panzervernichtigungs Abzeichen, RK.
He survived the war to become a house-painter. He was killed in a car accident in 1987.

Opps--sorry Sensei, I couldnt resist. For Friedrich--the answer you have is close but--its 7,313 Knights Cross Recipients. I didnt want to have it too hard to make you choose how many were recipients of the Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds.
If I can get on here at a time to answer someones question--I have another "easy" one.

I knew sooner or later a clue would be needed. Sorry Stevin, no not a Stalingrad recipient. Instead, the man in question received his RK for an action committed on 2 September 1941 near Lushno. He was an SS Unterscharfuhrer....any takers???
