G'day Bish
Would this be the "Wurtembergischen Gebirgsbatallion" with which he won the "Pour la Merite" medal?

I'd started to despair of ever getting one right!
OK, here's an easy trivia question : Lance Sergeant J D Baskeyfield won a posthumous VC at Arnhem, taking on at least two German Stug IIIs at point-blank range with two different six-pounder a/t guns.
At the junction of which two streets in Oosterbeek . . . ?

Absolutely right, Popski - and you can see a memorial plaque in the front garden of a house there.

Thanks Bull
My question is,
What was the name of the report in which the British Scientific intelligence in 1939 got word of the developments of German "secret weapons"?

Hi Bull
Trying to beat your time. It was Fl Lt Les Knight who dropped that bomb, who got killed on the night of 15-16 September 1943 after a raid of the Ruhrdams. He came down near at Den Ham in Holland

I never knew we did think of replacing the dear old Bren !
I'll take a wild guess at the 7.92mm Besa.
But that went into AFV's, not infantry.

Sorry Bull
You're hot but not quite, it uses .303Br ammo and should be able to use Bren parts. It never saw action, but was developed to go into production if the Bren factory RSAF got hit by an airraid, which didn't happen. The letters in your answer are nearly correct. Maybe I just have to give you the answer you're only one letter short. What do you think???

This is hurting my brain.
The only other gun I know is the Vickers-Berthier but this was developed considerably before 42/43.

G'day
Bull you were very close but maybe someone else knows. It was a development to replace the Bren if the Brenfactory got hit in an airraid, use's .303 Br ammo and could use Bren parts as spares. It is never used in action and the development stopped in 1943. Produced by BSA.

Maybe the timedifference doesn't give tyou enough time to react, but in a quiz the first wright answer wins. And also there are sometimes difficult questions. And also there was a war in Europe. But ill give the answer and Ron can post a american question
It's the BESAL Mk1 and Mk2, but because of the BESA machinegun(Bull) it was renamed the
" LMG Faulkner, 0.303-in Mk1"
Over to you Ron
