I can't find any code name for this op, only the bombing of the town in march, which was Bradman.

Was it operation Benzedrine? (It worked last time.)
Question for Bish: what does "OBE" stand for?

Sorry, Peppy - er, no, it wasn't !
Not quite, Bish. The first bombing happened with the first 'New Zealand' attack in February, which was Operation ******* ?

know. I have been looking through Hollow Victory. It mentions loads of Ops, but none referring to the 14th of Feb.
And please, don't tell me this was your source.

Wrong !
Actually ( dead giveaway ) my source is 'Tug of War : The Battle for Italy 1943-45' by Graham & Bidwell which also cites Blumenson's 'Salerno to Cassino'. For some odd reason Ellis doesn't seem to mention the codeword ; 'Dickens' was the next op which completed the bombing of Cassino town.
So, it's Operation *@&%$£# ?

OK, no-one's going to get it !
Just shows how careful you have to be be about information on the 'net. The Monastery at Monte Cassino was first bombed on February 15th, 1944 - not May.
And the operation, a joint attack of NZ troops preceded by the bombing, was codenamed AVENGER. ( Which doesn't even get a mention in the website listing ! ).
Next question.
Which Group, flying from which UK airfield,on which date flew the first official raid with B26 Marauders in the 8th USAAF - and what was the target ?

And though Hollw Victory mentions the Feb 15th raid, and the following attack, it does not give any code name. That is odd.

Was it the 322nd Bombardment group flying from Bury St Edmunds on the 14th of may 1943 to Ijmuiden (Holland)??

Just when I thought everyone was losing interest - immaculate answer, Popski !
And every aircraft but one on the raid sustained flak damage - a rough introduction to low-level attack !
Your question.......
