From what I understand, the Finns were forced into quitting Germany by the Russians and as part of an "agreement" between the Finns and Russians, the Finns were to expel all German forces from Finninsh territory--if they could not be captured.

As the Finns really wanted to still be comrades with the Germas, they did nothing against the Germans for quite sometime--all the while--Moscow had lost patience with the Finnish Govt and basically said: " Do as we agreed--of we will re-invade and occupy all of Finland"

So the Finns did tiny things against the germans here and there (still not really wanting to do anything against their now forced--formre ally) and the Germans massed all their units together for a big withdrawel from Finnish territory. They did this in the form of a giant Amoeba.

Or am I wrong?

Hmmm getting warmer Carl, getting warmer...

But the date is important here! Why was it spring 1943 that the Finns were going home??! This is important!

Was it because the Finns had been asking for 6 German Divisions to help fight the Russians and only received one. And then Stalingrad fell, and Manneheim realised that Finland wouldn't be getting any more help from Germany, so all the Finnish forces were withdrawn home to help stem the Russian threat??

Ok, they had a deal of two years 1941-1943 and after it was closing and Germany was losing by the Finnish military advisors their contract was not made further.

So another question! What was the code name for
V-1 used by British in communication for an enemy flying object?

The right answer for V-1 is "scaphandrier"....!!!!Anyway, I would like to ask many things like what did Monty get from Eisenhower in 1943 as Monty took the first Tunisian city.A private B-17 if I remember right!!

But for now I am going for Manchester UK for some football and books...So I must leave for next week. I still want this quiz to continue and I tossed the coin and Martin won.SO over to you!See ya all with hopefully lots of new info!
