Ahhh thank you CvM, lets see..........
Where did the Confederate Air Force serve in ww2? What theatre of ops and what was their main battle area?
Before someone thinks im bonkers--there WAS A "C.A.F." serving in the Pacific, only they were really our guys but--it was a collection of men who were from southern states and effectionally called themselves--the Confederate Air Force. This was also part of a way these men had in confusing the japanese who were listening to radio transmissions. These men were all Marines, and actually flew a Confederate Battle Flag at their base.
If im not believed--please read Capt Tom Blackburns book. He flew with the Jolly Rogers who were in that area.

Nope, sry PanzerKnacker, god guess, but I dont think the unit you gave was in The Phillipines in '42. Perhaps you had the unit defending it in 1945?

The Corregidor Hymn
During World War II, American patriotism reached a height that has never been experienced - before or since. Sometimes, the patriotism of combat troops took the form of letters and songs. An unnamed Marine from the 4th Marine Division wrote the following lyrics to the tune of the ' Marines' Hymn,' just before going into battle in Corregidor. The author of "The Corregidor Hymn" was captured by the Japanese in the battle, which ended 6 May 1942, and was never seen again.
"First to jump for holes and tunnels And to keep our skivvies clean, We are proud to claim the title of Corregidor's Marines.
"Our drawers unfurled to every breeze From dawn to setting sun. We have jumped into every hole and ditch And for us the fightin' was fun.
"We have plenty of guns and ammunition But not cigars and cigarettes, At the last we may smoking leaves Wrapped in Nipponese propaganda leaflets.
"When the Army and the Navy Looked out Corregidor's Tunnel Queen, They saw the beaches guarded by more than one Marine"

The troops in the assault craft that approached the north shore of Corregidor on the night of 5 May were from General Kitano's 4th Division.
Homma's plan had provided for two landings, to be made on successive nights at opposite ends of the island.
The first, which was landing on Corregidor on the night of the 5th, consisted of the 61st Infantry, reinforced with tanks from the 7th Tank Regiment, and artillery and service elements. It was led by Col. Gempachi Sato, commander of the 61st. The right wing, under the 4th Division infantry group commander, Maj. Gen. Kureo Taniguchi, was the stronger of the two forces and was composed of the 37th Infantry, one battalion of the 8th Infantry, an element of the 7th Tank Regiment, several artillery units, and service elements. It was to land the following night on the beach below Topside, near James Ravine.
ALl in all it was the 14th Japanese Imperial army under the command of general Masaharu Homma.
