Alright, thanks.
I don't see too much Scandinavian questions, so i'll get one in.
The Norwegians only really were able to get one good hit out of the short battle of Southern Norway. What did they hit?

Thanx Brad!
Next question:
Chamberlain speak to the British public 'Hitler has missed the bus'...
On what grounds did Mr Chamberlain claim this?

The phoney war of 39 in France, referring to the fact Hitler has missed a great chance, and has missed the bus cos, now the BEF is in France and prepared, the Maginot line is fully manned and French mobilisation virtually completed.
And folk at home in Britain all started singing were going to hang out the washing on the Siegfried line..if the siegfried lines still there..
Run rabbit run with nice cartoon of Chamberlain in pin stripe suit and chasing Hitler the rabbit with his rolled up brolly. Think 9 did the drawing work on that one.
Soon to be followed by Who do you think you are kidding mr Hitler..if you think that Englands done..
Sorry Kai, romancing the stone a bit.
No.... missed the bus becuase of allied preperadness in France if my memory serves correctly.

Yes, Urqhi!
Actually I myself at first thought it was all about the decision to get to Norway first and Chamberlain celebrated that in the beginning of April. But it seems it can be related to the whole spring-summer 1940 affair like you mentioned.
So it´s over to you, Urqhi!

"In the original "Phoney War" of 1939-40, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain declared confidently that "Hitler had missed the bus" just weeks before Hitler conquered Norway, France, and the Low Countries.

Thanks Kai.
Brad, a Scandinavian question then.....
At the nearing of wars end, Russia found itself with troops in Denmark, lots of Danish Islands as we know.
What famous British unit was sent to Denmark to protect if you like UK/US interests and shake hands with the Russians?

Brad you sent me in a spin matey....
I suddenly thought Ive confused the issue mentioning the Russians, as 6th eneded up at Wismar and thus prevented with others a stroll into Denmark proper by Ivan. Dont do that again.
Yes 1st.
And sorry Reddog, can see why you said that too.
Damn, Ill have to be more specific in future, but Brad you got the next question.

Leonard Birchall, of the Royal Canadian Air Forces's 413th squadron, was dubbed the "savior of Ceylon" for spotting and radioing in that a Japanesse invasion force composed 4 battleships and 5 carriers were headed to Ceylon, the Island just southeast of India.
