One of the last of the great names of Bomber Command has passed away - Group Captain J B Tait, DSO***, DFC*.

Any airman who was awarded four DSOs had to have had an exceptional career and 'Willie' Tait will be forever associated with 617 Squadron which he commanded during the second half of 1944, and the successful 'Tirpitz' raids.
