FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Donald Kermit Kimpel, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
Born Aug. 30, 1916, at Edgerton, Ohio, he married Wanda Lenore Miller of Bryan, Ohio, in 1941, and she preceded him in death.
He was a World War II veteran and was an active member of the American Legion Post No. 47 in Fort Wayne.
A volunteer driver with the League for the Blind and Disabled, he was as a recognized member of the Shoaff Park Lions for his humanitarian services.
Surviving are his daughter, Dena C. Monnot of Fort Wayne; his son, Craig W. (and wife, Sarah) Kimpel of Jacksonville, Ill.; grandchildren, Devin Anderson of Carmel, and Dawn King and Steve and Tony Monnot, all of Fort Wayne; six great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Joane Sine of Bryan, Ohio.
He has honored life through his gift to the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Promise Lutheran Church, 7323 Schwartz Road, Fort Wayne.
